PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma, and it’s a treatment that uses your own blood to promote healing in different parts of your body.
A small amount of your blood is drawn, just like a regular blood test.
The blood is put in a machine called a centrifuge, which spins the blood really fast to separate its components. The idea is to separate the plasma (the liquid part of your blood) and concentrate the platelets, which are small cells in the blood that help with healing.
What’s left after the separation is a plasma that’s packed with platelets—hence, "platelet-rich."
This concentrated plasma is then injected into the area that needs healing, like joints, tendons, or even the scalp if you’re treating hair loss.
