Steroid injections are targeted treatments used to reduce inflammation in joints, soft tissues, or around irritated structures.

The injection delivers anti-inflammatory medication directly to the affected area. By reducing inflammation, steroid injections may help relieve pain and improve movement.
The injection may also include a local anesthetic to provide temporary relief immediately following the procedure.
The procedure is performed in the Jacobs Pain Centre. The skin is cleaned, and a small needle is guided to the targeted joint or soft tissue area. Imaging guidance may be used when appropriate.
Some patients feel reduced pain shortly after treatment due to the anesthetic component. The steroid typically begins to take effect within several days.
Relief may develop over several days as inflammation decreases. The duration of benefit varies depending on the condition being treated and individual response.
