Infusion therapy delivers medication directly into the bloodstream through an intravenous (IV) line. This method allows medication to work quickly and ensures precise dosing in a controlled medical setting.
At Jacobs Pain Centre in Toronto, infusion therapies are used to treat chronic pain conditions, migraine disorders, and selected mental health conditions.
All treatments are administered under medical supervision in private treatment rooms, where patients are monitored throughout their visit.
Delivering medication through an IV allows it to bypass the digestive system and enter the bloodstream directly. This can be helpful when:
IV therapy allows our medical team to monitor response in real time and adjust treatment when appropriate.
IV ketamine may be used for certain chronic pain conditions, particularly those involving nerve sensitization or centralized pain.

IV ketamine therapy may be considered for treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, and related conditions.
